RESTAURANT LES ARES

Les Ares Restaurant is located in the western Pyrenees in Puerto de la Bonaigua . We offer a varied menu of local cuisine and all kinds of grilled meats.

Les Ares restaurant is located next to the historic high mountain refuge with the same name in the municipality of Alt Àneu, in the Pallars Sobirà region. It is located in the area of the town of Alós de Isil, at the former end of the Commonwealth of the Four Towns.

It is located in front, northwest, of the sanctuary of the Virgin María de Ares, at an altitude of 1,769 meters, near kilometer 52 of the C-28 road, halfway up from Puerto de la Bonaigua. It is in the middle of two very sharp curves in the road. It also works as a restaurant.

In 1964 it ceased to be in operation, and in 1970 it became the property of the MOPU. For many years it was abandoned, until around the 80s an individual took over, who transformed it into a Refuge, subsidized by the Generalitat of Catalonia. It has never really functioned as a mountain refuge, but rather as a restaurant, despite the fact that in case of a lot of snow, they are obliged to provide accommodation.
